Laser Treatment
Laser therapy is a commonly used and effective treatment in retinal care to help preserve vision and prevent further damage to the retina.
At our practice, laser procedures are performed in the office using advanced technology designed for precision, safety, and patient comfort.

In certain urgent or emergent situations, laser treatment can often be performed the same day when clinically appropriate.
Types of Laser Treatment
We provide several types of retinal laser treatments, including:

-
Panretinal Photocoagulation (PRP)
Used to treat advanced or proliferative retinal conditions, most commonly related to diabetic retinopathy, by reducing abnormal blood vessel growth.
-
Micropulse Laser
A gentler, tissue-sparing laser option that delivers treatment in short pulses. This approach may be used in select conditions to help reduce retinal swelling while minimizing damage to surrounding tissue.
-
Focal Laser
Targets specific areas of leakage or abnormal blood vessels and is often used in conditions such as diabetic macular edema or retinal vein occlusion.
Your provider will determine which laser approach is most appropriate based on your diagnosis and imaging findings.
Conditions Commonly Treated with Laser
Laser therapy may be used to treat: Diabetic retinopathy, retinal tears, retinal vein occlusion, macular edema, certain cases of macular degeneration or other retinal vascular or structural abnormalities
What to Expect During the Procedure
Laser treatments are typically performed in the office | The eye is numbed with anesthetic drops | The procedure usually takes only a few minutes | You may see bright flashes of light during treatment | Most patients are able to go home shortly after

Laser treatment is generally well tolerated, though some patients may experience mild discomfort or sensitivity during the procedure.
After the Procedure
Vision may be temporarily blurry or light sensitive | Mild irritation or soreness can occur and usually resolves quickly | Most patients can resume normal activities the same or next day | Follow-up visits are important to monitor your response to treatment

Your provider will give you individualized post-procedure instructions based on the type of laser performed.
