New Patients

Welcome

We’re glad you’re here and appreciate the trust you’ve placed in our team. Your first visit is designed to be thorough so we can fully understand your condition and develop an individualized treatment plan focused on protecting and improving your vision.

What to Bring

To help your visit run smoothly, please bring:

  • Insurance card and photo ID

  • A list of current medications, including eye drops, vitamins, and supplements

  • Glasses, contact lenses, and/or eye medications you use

  • Contact information for your primary care provider and referring physician

  • Any relevant eye records or prior imaging

If your insurance plan requires a referral, please ensure it is obtained before your appointment.

Eye Dilation

All new patient visits require pupil dilation. Dilation may cause blurry vision and light sensitivity for several hours. If you do not feel comfortable driving afterward, please arrange transportation home.

Returning Patients

What to Expect

Follow-up visits are tailored to your diagnosis and treatment plan. Appointment length varies depending on testing, imaging, or treatment scheduled that day.

Your visit may include:

  • Updated retinal imaging or diagnostic testing

  • Vision and eye pressure checks

  • Examination by your provider

  • Review of progress and treatment planning

Treatment, such as injections or procedures, if indicated

Injection Visits & Aftercare

If your visit includes a retinal injection:

  • The injection itself takes only a few minutes

  • Mild irritation, redness, tearing, or light sensitivity afterward is common

  • A small dark spot or bubble in vision may occur and usually resolves

Avoid rubbing your eye and avoid swimming or hot tubs for several days. Most patients resume normal activities the same day. Your provider will review aftercare instructions and symptoms that require urgent attention.

Fluorescein Angiography (FA) Appointments

If FA is scheduled, please plan to be in the office for up to 2.5–3 hours total. While the imaging itself is brief, dilation, preparation, imaging, and provider review contribute to the longer visit time.

After FA, your skin and urine may appear yellow or orange for up to 24–48 hours. This is normal.

Pre-Check-In &
Patient Portal (Healow)

(in the header at the top of our website)

The patient portal is a convenient way to contact our office for:

  • Non-urgent questions

  • Appointment-related inquiries

  • Medication refill requests

To help streamline your visit, we offer pre-check-in through the patient portal (Healow). When available, you may receive a notification prior to your appointment allowing you to:

  • Complete registration and consent forms

  • Verify insurance and contact information

  • Update medications and medical history

Completing pre-check-in ahead of time helps reduce wait times and allows our team to focus on your care.

However, if you experience sudden vision changes, significant eye pain, or an urgent concern, please contact our office directly by phone.

Arrival Time & Late Policy

We kindly ask that you arrive on time for your appointment. Due to the complexity of retinal testing and imaging, late arrival may limit the ability to complete your full evaluation and could require rescheduling.

Same-Day Testing & Treatment

Many retinal conditions require timely evaluation and care.

Depending on your diagnosis, your visit may include same-day diagnostic testing and/or treatment.

Your provider will review all findings and recommendations with you before any treatment is performed.

Medications & Eye Drops

Please continue taking your prescribed medications and using your eye drops unless instructed otherwise by your provider. Bring an up-to-date medication list to every visit.
