Diagnostic Tests
FLUORESCEIN ANGIOGRAPHY OR ICG ANGIOGRAPHY

Angiography is a diagnostic procedure in which a high-resolution camera takes a rapid sequence of photographs, that a computer then analyzes to document the blood circulation of the retina/choroid. Prior of this procedure, a dye(color) is injected into a vein in the arm, forearm or hand. The procedure helps with diagnosis, and guides treatment of the retinal disease.

OPTICAL COHERENCE TOMOGRAPHY (OCT) (Spectral Domain OCT)

This procedure measures the thickness of the retina at the micron level. By obtaining scans of a cross-section of the retina, our physicians are able to identify and diagnose many types of retinal abnormalities, including age-related macular degeneration, cystoid macular edema, diabetic macular edema, macular traction syndrome, macular holes and surface wrinkling retinopathy.

OCULAR ULTRASOUND (B-Scan)

Ocular ultrasound imaging helps to view into the eye when a cataract, hemorrhage or other opacities obstruct the visualization. It is also useful in the diagnosis of ocular tumors.

EXTENDED OPHTHALMOSCOPY

Extended Ophthalmoscopy helps to visualize those parts of the peripheral retina which are not easily visualized by routine examination.

Surgical Procedures

Using state-of-the-art equipment and the latest surgical techniques, we are able to treat many retinal diseases, such as diabetic retinopathy, vitreous hemorrhage, retinal tears and select retinal detachments, macular holes, and some select ocular tumors from the comfort of our office. Some of the common surgical procedures we perform in-office are:

  • Laser treatments  (Retinopexy, Laser Photocoagulation, Focal Laser, Micropulse Laser)

  • Intra-Vitreal injections of anti-VEGF agents, steroids, proteolytic enzymes, etc.

Other surgical procedures (scleral buckling, vitrectomy, plaque brachytherapy & fiducial marker placement for ocular radiation) may require specialized equipment available only in hospital operating rooms. Our physician(s) have privileges at many area hospitals. Our staff are available to assist you with scheduling such procedures at the surgical facility. Most surgical procedures are performed on an outpatient basis.
